Clarinet

Clarinet lessons focus on improving the student's technical proficiency on their instrument and develop musicality all while a progressing toward the student's personal musical goals. Lessons take place in a one-on-one setting in my home in South Austin, in their school, or over Skype (not recommended for all students) . Students must be at least 10 years of age, but all levels of experience are welcome.

  • Styles/Genres Taught:

    • Classical, Contemporary, Jazz, Klezmer

    • Solo, Chamber, Band, Orchestra

  • Studio Requirements:

    • Practice between 15 minutes to 2 hours daily and complete all practice assignments

    • Performance in solo and chamber recitals annually

    • Providing and maintaining an instrument

    • Access to a metronome/tuner

Composition

Students interested in learning to compose music will be taught both the practical skills of writing, as well as a theoretical, stylistic and historic understanding of music to help them develop a creative and critical perspective. I offer compositions lessons to students 12 and up. Although no previous experience composing is required, students are strongly advised to study an instrument and be able to proficiently read music. Piano skills are a plus!

Lessons are offered in my home in South Austin or via Skype (some exceptions made).

    • Working on assignments and compositions daily for 15 minutes to 2 hours

        • Intro Level: Audacity is free and open source, and GarageBand comes free on Apple computers and tablets.
